Chambres d'hôtes dans le Gers

What to do this week

Why not visit the Gallo-Roman villa at Seviac? Open from March to November, it is home to 600m2 of well-preserved mosaics, all of which amaze by their richness, colours and diversity, and by their technical and artistic quality. The three bath-houses – the caldarium, tepidarium and frigidarium indicate the early practise of hydrotherapy in SW France, and the sheer size of the villa shows how much our gallo-roman country gentleman knew how to welcome visitors and friends. After the visit (you are free to walk around, and descriptions are provided in various languages) you might wish to visit the neighbouring village of Montréal with its museum of the period, or the capital of the Gallo-Roman province, Eauze (Eleusa) , with its « treasure ».

These Romans knew a thing or two!
